North to the border
On the Way to Eureka
North of Whitefish, US Highway 93 runs up through the woods to Eureka, Lake Koocanusa, and the Roosville crossing into British Columbia. Westside Market sits on the north side of town, which makes it the last real stop before the drive gets quiet. Fuel the vehicle and the people, grab what you will want on the road, and start the trip with a good cup of coffee instead of whatever is left at the last pump before the border.
Provision for the drive
Start with early coffee and a hot breakfast before you point the truck north, then grab food to carry for a stretch of highway with few good stops once you leave town. Pick up ice, water, and snacks for the cooler, and beer or fine wine for wherever you land that night.
Fill up before the woods
Top off at the Cenex pumps before you go. Ethanol free premium is on hand for the boats, campers, and small engines headed up to Koocanusa, and fuel gets scarcer and pricier the closer you get to the border. Start full, start early, and Westside will still be open late enough to catch you on the way back south.
