Minutes from the water
A Day Trip to Whitefish Lake
Whitefish Lake sits just north and west of downtown, and the state park boat launch is a few minutes past it. Westside Market is on that side of town, which means you can reach the water without threading the whole downtown grid and the summer parking crawl first. For a lot of lake days, we are the last turn before the launch.
Skip the town, get to the water
The difference a road-trip stop makes here is logistics, not just supplies. There is room out front to pull in with a truck and a trailer, so you are not circling for a spot or blocking a lane while somebody runs in. Get everyone sorted in one stop and you are at the ramp minutes later, ahead of the boats still looking for parking downtown. In summer that head start is most of the morning.
After the lake
When the boat comes off the water and back onto the trailer, the drive home comes right back past us. Westside stays open late, so a cold drink, dinner to go, and a full tank for tomorrow are a single easy stop on the way in. Loading up for a full day on the water?
